The Georgetown Asian fusion spot Mie N Yu gets mixed marks on its cuisine, with Tim Carman accusing it of serving “Epcot crap” that appeals mainly to tourists and the Post giving it higher praise for its bar snacks.

But one facet of the restaurant appears to be on the cusp of universal acclaim. Mie N Yu is one of ten finalists in a contest to find the nation’s best public bathroom, pitting its unisex washrooms against nine other toilets located in restaurants and entertainment venues around the country.

Mie N Yu’s facilities, with their bamboo fountains and textured bamboo doors and wall paneling, provide diners unsatisfied by their mediocre dinners a chance to escape to an environment that feels more like a grotto in a South Asian cove. The bathroom contest is sponsored by Cintas, the restaurant uniform and maintenance firm.

Among the other finalists are the cavern-like bathrooms at Da Marino Ristorante Italiano in New York, the art-deco urinals at the Hollywood Bowl, the modish WC at Vanity Night Club at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas and the space-age stalls at the Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel in Chicago.

Voting in the bathroom contest ends October 26.
