The bad news continues for Councilmember Michael Brown (I-At Large). Not only is his re-election campaign missing over $113,000, but over the weekend the Post reported that Brown’s driver’s license has been suspended multiple times since 2005:

Brown (I-At Large) lost his driving privileges for a quarter of the time he’s served on the council, according to a 10-year driving record provided by the D.C. Department of Motor Vehicles under a Freedom of Information Act request by The Washington Post…The records show that, except for about 30 days, he could not drive from June 15, 2009, through March 8, 2010, after he accumulated 10 points or more on his driving record. Brown’s license also was suspended three times between 2005 and 2007 for unpaid traffic citations — before he joined the council.

The news of the traffic troubles only piles it on against Brown, who has in the past dealt with claims of unpaid taxes, campaign finance violations and defaulted payments for a luxury suite in the Verizon Center.

More recently, Brown has been under fire from two opponents who claim that the theft of funds from his campaign serves as evidence of his inability to effectively manage city affairs. Brown has contested those claims, saying that he is the victim of a crime.
