Drop everything. This shit just got real:
Yes the Plan is working on a new album! Sorry thought this was somewhat public knowledge

Yeah, it’s happening. Though you should disregard Travis Morrison’s subsequent tweet, in which he joked that the title of the new LP would be the Jim Croce-inspired The Adventures of Bobby Beverage And Two Shoe Lou.
Anyway, we kind of suspected this news was in the works, after The Dismemberment Plan played their first new songs in 11 years at a pair of recent shows in Baltimore and Fredericksburg, Va.
UPDATE: In an email interview, Morrison tells DCist that the desire to lay down new material sparked during rehearsals for the band’s 2011 tour. As much fun as playing the old hits was, it was time to develop some new musical themes.
“We decided to get together when the shows were over to just make some noise,” Morrison writes. “It was really fun, and slowly songs started to emerge. Now we have eight songs that can be played live and two more that exist in our minds but just haven’t been nailed together yet musically.”
The forthcoming LP—The Dismemberment Plan’s fifth full-length album—still lacks a title as well as a release date, Morrison says.
But what it does have is a distinctive evolution from the frenetic, head-case personalities that marked Emergency & I and Change.
“It’s certainly our most high-spirited stuff since our second record,’ Morrison writes. “Doesn’t sound much like the emo-prog we making at the end.”
The themes are also a bit more mature, too, he adds. Instead of sex and loneliness, expect songs full of love and ambition.
“Definitely less neurotic,” Morrison tells DCist. “Hope that doesn’t hurt our brand. LOL.”
