TUESDAY

Recommended if you like soft and introspective acoustic guitar songs—Benjamin Francis Leftwich has a raspy voice and a soft touch on his guitar that will make you feel nostalgia when that had been the farthest thing from your mind. John Brodeur opens the show at Black Cat. $12, 8:00 p.m.

WEDNESDAY

If you’re like me and you kick yourself every time visionary rapper Lupe Fiasco comes to town (which is regularly) and sells out before you remember to buy a ticket, you’re in luck, his show at the Fillmore still has some tickets available. Flex Mathews opens. $35, 8:00 p.m.

>> Rock and Roll Hotel: Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Foxygen, Wampire. Sold Out, 8:00 p.m..

THURSDAY

Her Friday night show wherein she performs Mama’s Gun in its entirety sold out the Fillmore fairly quickly and Erykah Badu‘s first night in town, during which she’ll perform Baduizm, the album that introduced the soulful chanteuse to the masses, just sold out as well…but we recommend seeing what Craigslist has to offer for either one. Sold Out, 8:00 p.m.

>> 9:30 Club: Bebel Gilberto. $35, 7:00 p.m.

>> Black Cat: Beanstalk Library, Ryan Tennis Music, Andy Zipf. $10, 8:00 p.m.

>> Rock and Roll Hotel: Efterklang, Jherek Bischoff, Spirit Animal. $12, 8:00 p.m.

FRIDAY

The name Beach Fossils can give you a pretty good indication of the sort of hazy laid-back material to expect from the young band. Or at least, it could have in the past. Their new album Clash the Truth still has its fair share of reverb, but it’s a more sonically raw affair. Young Rapids and Go Cozy open the show at DC9 which has already sold out. Sold Out, 8:00 p.m.

>> CD Cellar: Troll Tax, Violent Vibes, Post Nasal Drip. Free, 8:00 p.m.

SATURDAY

Actor and hip-hop artist Mos Def has started performing under his given name, Yasiin Bey, as of late, but that does not change the clever lyricism and memorable songs that we’ve come to expect from the emcee. He’ll be performing with Watch the Duck at the 9:30 Club. $40, 8:00 p.m.

>> Velvet Lounge: Lorelei, Dead Leaf Echo, Royal Shoals. $8, 9:30 p.m.

SUNDAY

Eels serve as living proof that a one-hit wonder’s music career need not end after the fifteen minutes are up on the one hit (which was “Novacaine For the Soul.”) Mark Oliver Everett of Eels has released nine studio albums and starred in a documentary film. Plus, Eels always plays the 9:30 Club whenever they come through town and tonight is no different. Nicole Atkins and Puddles Pity Party open the show. $25, 7:00 p.m.

>> Howard Theatre: Fishbone, The Alan Evans Trio (of Soulive). $17.50 in advance, $22 day of show, 8:00 p.m.

>> DC9: The Orwells, Kingston Springs, Laughing Man. $10, 8:00 p.m.
