A Gaithersburg woman was arrested yesterday for allegedly assaulting a gay drag performer at a D.C. pizza shop on June 23. The case, one of six recent attacks involving a lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender person, is not being considered a hate crime at this time.

Raymone Harding, 28, was arrested and charged with simple assault Tuesday, the Metropolitan Police Department says.

Miles Denaro, a gay drag performer known as Heidi Glum, was beaten by two women inside the Manny & Olga’s on 14th Street NW following the monthly “Gay Bash” at the Black Cat.

In video uploaded to the abhorrent website WorldStarHipHop, two women are seen arguing with Denaro while others in the pizza shop look on. The argument escalates to the point where one of the women pulls Denaro’s hair before both of the women begin punching him in the head. During the entire attack, a man is heard excitedly shouting, “World star! World star!” Eventually, two people stepped in to stop the attack.

The video seems to have been taken down, but is still available to watch in an embedded form.

Denaro, who also goes by Miles DeNiro, spoke to Metro Weekly about what preceded the attack:

DeNiro told Metro Weekly that two women—shown in the video appearing as a black woman and an adult Latina—started criticizing him and touching his face.

”They were jealous of my shoes, my makeup, saying I didn’t know how to put it on,” DeNiro said. ”They started touching my face, and I said, ‘Do not touch me.’ The black girl pushed me, I pushed her back, she swung at me, I spit in her face.”

Denaro told Metro Weekly the women attacked him twice then called him anti-gay slurs.

Police say the investigation is still ongoing.
