An overnight standoff on Capitol Hill has ended peacefully.
A Metropolitan Police Department spokesman said a suspect, who was barricaded in a residence on the 1300 block of East Capitol Street SE, surrendered peacefully around 8:45 a.m. and SWAT units are leaving the scene. Roads were expected to reopen by 9:10 a.m.
Police attempted to serve the suspect a warrant last night around 10:30 p.m. The suspect, who police say was armed, allowed a woman to leave the residence.
According to WNEW, the suspect was wanted for assaulting a police officer.
