Courtesy Washington National Cathedral. The woman accused of vandalizing the National Cathedral with green paint and implicated in a similar incident at the Lincoln Memorial did not appear in D.C. Superior Court today for a status hearing as she was admitted to a psychiatric ward yesterday.
Her attorney Nancy Glass said Tian’s doctors became concerned about her condition yesterday, and she was admitted to the psychiatric ward at Washington Hospital Center.
If the situation stabilizes, Glass said, Tian could appear in court for another status hearing in three weeks. The government agreed to this arrangement.
Tian, who is believed to be homeless, was released to a halfway house in August. She was arrested in late July at the National Cathedral, which has since been completely repaired. Police claim she had paint on her person at the time.
