On Saturday, 96 dachshunds gathered in downtown D.C. to compete against one another in On Tap magazine’s Wiener 500 Dachshund Dash for Charity.
DCist didn’t stick around long enough to see which dog was crowned the winner (thanks, rain!), but according to the GW Hatchet a dachshund named Pumpkin eventually took the crown. We can report that the early races we witnessed were adorable, and a dog named Baba Booey was involved. To top it all off, the Washington Humane Society received almost $2,000 in donations from the entry fees.

Watching people try to explain the race to their dog is the best part. pic.twitter.com/CHWKAAWcuz
