Shake Shack will bribe the people of Washington to exercise by bringing its running club to the city next month.
The burger chain will launch a D.C. version of Shack Track & Field, a monthly 45-minute to one-hour run that ends at Dupont Circle’s Shake Shack, on October 8 at 7 p.m.
The runs begin at Pacers Logan Circle (1427 P St NW), and there is no need to sign up in advance. Each run snakes around Washington’s most notable monuments, lasting 45 minutes to an hour, and ends with a post-run social at Shake Shack’s Dupont Circle location at 1216 18th St NW. Runners will have a bag check service available at Pacers, with bags being delivered to the post-run social. With the purchase of a nifty Shack Track & Field t-shirt ($10), runners will receive a special coupon card valid for a complimentary drink each and every run club meeting.
For reference, a run of that length can burn between 150 and 900 calories, depending on your weight and speed. A regular vanilla concrete with a side of fries will run you 1,030 calories.
