MONDAY
Labeled initially as the leader of the shortlived “chillwave” genre that spawned many forgettable bedroom demos, Chaz Bundick, who performs as Toro Y Moi, has managed to outlast the microgenre fad and grow with each subsequent release. In fact, his latest album Anything In Return works as a 50-minute entry into the South Carolina native’s catalog up to this point. Los Angeles DJs Classixx, who open the night at the 9:30 Club, released the Daft Punk record that everyone wanted back in February. The duo will be trading in their turntables for guitars on this tour and performing the sounds of Hanging Gardens with live instrumentation instead of computers. $25, 7 p.m.
>> DC 9: Junior Prom, Dot Dash. $8-10, 8 p.m.

WEDNESDAY
Apparently we’re in the midst of yet another emo revival. Or not. Regardless, the genre has moved from midwestern basements back into the general music consciousness. That said DC 9’s line-up features some of the old and new guard. Missouri’s Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin will share the stage with up-and-coming Brooklyn band A Great Big Pile of Leaves and Baltimore power-pop band Joy Classic. $12-14, 8 p.m.

Glass, a Baltimore native, has commissioned pieces with the group which released Kronos Quartet Performs Philip Glass in 1995. $10-50, 8 p.m.

FRIDAY
Autre Ne Veut’a latest album Anxiety is just one of the many albums of late that channels 80s and early 90s R&B — How To Dress Well’s Total Loss and Rhye’s Woman come to mind as well — and manage to pull it off. The 30-year-old Brooklyn musician will be headlining the Rock And Roll Hotel. Three Stars alum Lenorable will open the show with their darkwave inspired pop. $14, 8 p.m.

SATURDAY
If you missed an opportunity to see her on the first show, don’t worry there’s a second night. Touring behind her first album since 2005, the enigmatic Fiona Apple returns to D.C. again, but this time she’s dropped in the middle of a slate of excellent singer-songwriters that will be headlining the newly I.M.P. curated Lincoln Theatre. I’d be curious to see how such an intimate billing will fare in such a large room. Apple will be sharing the stage the entire evening with Blake Mills. She might even play in your living room if you ask nice enough. $55, 7 p.m.
>> St. Stephen’s: Halloween Cover Benefit Show featuring Slayer (members of D.O.C., Drugs of Faith, Mind as Prison), Ramones (3/4 of Coke Bust + James Haitchwai), Missfits (DC punk ladies), SSD (members of Vile Faith, Youth Enrage, The Black Sparks), GG Parsons (members of Parsons, Coke Bust, Thick Skin). $5-7, 7 p.m.
>> Comet Ping Pong: Crystal Antlers, Bella Russia, Young Rapids. $12, 10 p.m.
>> Rock And Roll Hotel: Fidlar, The Orwells, Shark Week. $13, 7 p.m.
>> Empire: Kylesa, Pinkish Black, Sierra, Caustic Casanova. $16, 7 p.m.
SUNDAY
Just a few months ago, Chicago emcee Chance the Rapper was an opening act for Mac Miller at the Fillmore Silver Spring. He’s back at the same venue behind his critically acclaimed mixtape Acid Rap, which is arguably the best hip-hop release of 2013, if not the most fun. He’s brought along fellow Chicago native and juke/footwork pioneer DJ Rashad, who will release his debut full length Double Cup tomorrow. Spinn also will open the show. $26.50, 7 p.m.
>> Black Cat: Gary Numan, The Color Film. $25-30, 8 p.m.
>> The Howard Theatre: George Clinton & the P Funk All-Stars. $37.50-42, 6 p.m.
