It’s the oldest trick in the book: Walk into a Metro elevator, place a banana peel on the floor, fall and profit. For one Maryland man this may have worked, if there hadn’t been a camera there to catch him in the act.
The Washington Post has the scoop on the attempted and alleged fraud. According to their report, a District Heights man sued Metro for $15,000 after he claimed to have slipped on a banana peel in a Potomac Avenue Metro station elevator. That claim was thrown out, and now the man has been charged with felony fraud. He will appear in court on Monday.
