Look out your window: It’s pretty crummy out, right? Well, that rain you see now may turn to snow later this afternoon. Yesterday, the Post reported that, while the weather will be generally bad today and tomorrow, there would be a slight chance of snow. A ten percent chance of an inch or less. “Conversational snow,” as they put it.

Now it looks like that “ten percent chance” has risen. According to the National Weather Service, the rain will change over “to a mixture of light sleet and snow early this afternoon…then to all light snow by mid-afternoon.” Precipitation will end early this evening, however. The NWS predicts that “areas along and east of I-95 will likely see snow accumulations from a dusting to up to an inch of snow by sunset…mainly on grassy surfaces.”

Or maybe, just maybe, nothing dramatic will happen at all! From the Post’s live blog: “A sign this snow “event” is, shall we say, struggling (not that we expected much more): I have yet to receive a compelling image of snow-filled skies. Despite several pleas, this is the best picture I’ve received so far on Twitter, and it’s not even that close to the District, from Eldersburg, Md.” The Post adds, “I still think a coating on grassy areas is about the most anyone will see and do not anticipate icy roads,” which clearly is code for “Everyone panic.”

Regardless, DCist is now christening this event Thanksgivukkah Snowmergency of 2013. God speed, everyone.
