It’s that time again: President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address to Congress is tomorrow evening. And, per usual, there will be a host of watch parties happening all around D.C., because what better way to hear about the state of our country than at a bar selling discounted booze?

Ventnor Sports Cafe in Adams Morgan is bringing back their infamous State of the Union Watch Parties, which promises to be a very boozy affair. Choose a word when you walk into the bar and, if President Obama says it, it’s a $1 jello shot for you! Better call in sick on Wednesday. Info here.

Network For Progress fifth annual State of the Union PROGRESS party will be held again at Local 16 on U St. Network For Progress is bringing a host of guest speakers as well as raffle prizes, appetizers for early comers, and they’re partnering up with Uber to offer $20 to new riders attending the party. IMPACT @ The Washington Post headquarters
IMPACT is teaming up with the Washington Post’s TheRoot blog for a SOTU watch party and panel discussion at the Post’s headquarters. Panelists include panelists Marcia Jackson-Blanco of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, Aisha Moodie-Mills of the Center for American Progress, and Michael Blake of Green for All.
