Raskia’s executive chef Vikram Sunderam is once again a James Beard Award finalist — the only from D.C.

Yes, despite a healthy showing in several semifinalist categories, Sunderam is the only finalist from the city. Cathal Armstrong from Restaurant Eve in Alexandria, Va. and Spike Gjerde from Baltimore’s Woodberry Kitchen are also finalists in the same category, Best Chef: Mid-Atlantic.

The city fared much better on the media side, with Washingtonian listed as a finalist in one category and the Washington Post listed in three.
