Police have identified the body of a man discovered in a rowhouse in the 1800 block of 8th Street NW. It’s the second body found in the Shaw rowhouse, both of whom were residents of the house.

According to a release, authorities identified the body of an adult male found partially buried in the backyard of the residence as 23-year-old Delano Wingfield. The cause of death was multiple blunt force impact injuries and Wingfield’s death is being investigated as a homicide

Wingfield was discovered on Monday June 16 at approximately 2:05 p.m., while police were investigating the house in relation to another body that was discovered under an air mattress in the attic a few days prior. Police discovered the body of 22-year-old Leon Young, also a resident of the house, on June 13 and concluded that he had been dead for a week by the time he was discovered.

21-year-old Jeffrey Bernard Neal, a third resident of the house, was subsequently charged with the murder of Young. The Post reports that Neal told police that Young admitted to killing Wingfield.

Wingfield’s grandmother, who reported her grandson missing on June 3, told police that the three residents of the house “were friends since high school.” A co-worker of Young’s “said he frequently complained about problems with his roommates,” the Post also reports.

Authorities say the homicide investigation of Wingfield is continuing.
