Mr. Leo.

Here’s the latest TV ad to promote the SIlver Line, which — have you heard? — will begin passenger service this Saturday.

At a WMATA board meeting today, General Manager Richard Sarles said the first ads took a “tongue-and-cheek” approach to promoting the Silver Line, while the new one is a “celebration of the Silver Line” and shows happy people dancing to and at the Wiehle-Reston East station.

“I think you’ll agree it reflects the positive, upbeat attitude about the new service that we’ve been hearing directly from the riders about,” he said.

Those riders must not be YouTube commenters:

  • “Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. Will the funky dance routine keep the trains running and escalators working?”
  • “Just wait til they realize that the fare went up again.”
  • “The lyrics, ‘…you’re taking me for a ride, for a ride’ seem appropriate, but perhaps not in the way you meant.”

At least Mr. Leo (“a 78-year-old resident of Forestville, Maryland, who credits his longevity and great dance moves to healthy living”) is having a good time!
