During her first year of life, National Zoo panda cub Bao Bao has gifted the world an immense amount of joy.
From the day she was born to her public debut, the undeniably adorable panda has made D.C. a better place to be simply by existing. Tomorrow, the National Zoo will celebrate the first birthday of its biggest star with a public event that begins at 11 a.m.
To celebrate Bao Bao’s 365 days of existence, DCist has compiled a list of videos showing the many times the panda fell while learning to climb. Why? Because it’s cute, that’s why. No, you don’t need to feel like a jerk for enjoying this. As Laurie Thompson, a biologist at the Zoo, told the Washington Post during Bao Bao’s debut, “Panda cubs are very dense. They have a lot of fur. … They’re used to taking tumbles. They’re made for it.”
