A staffer for a Pennsylvania congressman pleaded guilty today to accidentally bringing a gun and ammunition into a House office building.

Ryan Shucard pleaded guilty to possession of an unregistered firearm and unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition in D.C. Superior Court today. As the Associated Press reports, Shucard was given a suspended sentence of 30 days in jail and six months probation.

In late July, Shucard was arrested at a security checkpoint in the Cannon Building when officers detected a 9mm Smith & Wesson firearm and magazine in his bag. His lawyer said the incident was a “total accident.”

Shucard is still listed as the press secretary on Rep. Tom Marino’s website. He was placed on leave after the incident.
