Metro is seeking input from Red Line riders who were caught in Tuesday’s extremely messy morning commute.

Questions include basics about where the rider entered and exited, when and where they heard about the delay — caused by a cracked rail near the Dupont Circle station — and how often they heard announcements in the station about the delay

Metro also wants to know if riders exited the station during the delay and if they will continue to use the Red Line to make a similar trip.

After long delays, like the one seen yesterday, Metro does not automatically offer refunds to riders whose trips were severely impacted. As a usage report provided by a DCist reader shows, a trip between the Rhode Island Avenue and Metro Center stations still cost $2.15 yesterday, even though the trip took over an hour. Red Line riders en masse have previously filed complaints seeking refunds.

One of the final questions — “What could Metro have done to make your experience better during this delay?” — will likely see some interesting answers in the “Other” selection.
