A Howard University Hospital patient who showed symptoms that could be associated with Ebola does not have the disease, according to the D.C. Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control.

“Ebola has very clear symptoms that inevitably worsen over time, inclusive of fear, bleeding from the eyes and a growing rash that consumers over 75 percent of the body,” DOH Director De. Joxel Garcia said in a statement. “Based on the clinical presentation of the patient, the medical team was able to rule out Ebola. The patient will be treat for other illnesses.
“The District of Columbia has one of the best disease surveillance epidemiologist teams in the country. I am confident in our ability to keep District residents safe.”
A patient tested for the deadly disease at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville, Md. also does not have Ebola.
