A man who climbed over the White House fence last night has been arrested and charged with assault, according to the Secret Service.
The Associated Press reports that 23-year-old Dominic Adesanya of Bel Air, Md. was arrested and charged with charged with felonies for assaulting two police dogs and making threats after he climbed over the White House fence on the North Lawn at approximately 7:10 p.m yesterday. He was “swiftly apprehended…by uniformed Secret Service agents and their dogs.” The AP reports he was unarmed when he was arrest.
Adesanya’s arrest comes just a month after another man jumped over the White House fence. In that incident, 42-year-old Omar J. Gonzalez made it into the building, allegedly carrying a knife, and made it all the way to the East Room before he was finally apprehended by an off-duty Secret Service agent.
Following the incident, the Secret Service admitted that their “security plan was not executed properly,” which led to the resignation of Secret Service Director Julia Pierson.
Last night’s incident was captured on video and shows Adesanya being attacked by the dogs—kicking and punching them—before he’s brought down by Secret Service agents. Officials said he was unarmed when he was arrested and the dogs were taken to a veterinarian where they were treated for minor bruising and later cleared to return to duty.
