The people who want to bring the 2024 summer Olympics to the D.C. area have enlisted Mayor-elect Muriel Bowser, D.C. Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton, Newt Gingrich, Bob Dole, sports players and regular folks to make the case for #thistown in a new video.
Beyond saying the phrase “this town” seven times, the assembled politicians and normal people say things like “You surely cannot know us by our reputation alone” and “what stops others makes us stronger.” This idea — D.C. is misunderstood as a “dysfunctional community” — has been repeated often by the people involved with Washington 2024, led by businessman Russ Ramsey and sports team owner Ted Leonsis.
