The Metropolitan Police Department are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a “person of interest” in the fatal stabbing of a D.C. man at a downtown hotel.

Police first discovered the body of 30-year-old David Messerschmitt on Tuesday at approximately 11:12 a.m. at the Donovan Hotel located in Thomas Circle. Messerschmitt, who the Post reports was an intellectual-property attorney for the Washington office of lawfirm DLA Piper, had suffered from multiple stab wounds, which caused his death.

Police released a video of a “person of interest” last night, who was caught on video at the Donovan Hotel the evening of February 9.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099 or send an anonymous tip via text to 50411. There’s a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
