In the Metro Transit Police’s annual security report released last month, statistics showed a slight decrease in reports sexual harassment on Metro. While the 13 percent decrease in reported crimes is a good sign, WMATA is still fully committed to ensuring reported harassment is down to zero.
As such, they’re launching a new anti-sexual harassment campaign with new ads displaying through the Metro:
Via WMATA.
“Harassment and assault on the Metro is never okay,” Zosia Sztykowski, Co-Executive Director at Collective Action for Safe Spaces, who helped develop the ad, said in a statement. “Raising awareness about it and about the resources available to people who experience it is an important part of creating a Metro system that’s safe and welcoming for everyone.”
You can report instances of harassment on Metro by calling 202-962-2121, texting MyMTPD (696873), or reporting it online.
