An off-duty Metropolitan Police Officer, who is also a church pastor, was arrested last night and charged with first degree sex abuse of a minor.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, 45-year-old Darrell Best was arrested at approximately 9 p.m. yesterday evening after a 16-year-old female reported that he allegedly sexually abused her on three separate occasions beginning in December of last year, all while off duty.

Best also serves as the pastor of the victim’s church, God-A Second Chance Ministry Church on Southern Avenue SE. After an investigation conducted by the MPD’s Youth Investigations Division, a D.C. Superior Court judge issued a warrant on Sunday charging Best with first degree sex abuse of a minor. He was arrested at his home in Largo, Md.
