The International Pillow Fight Day is happening in front of the Washington Monument this weekend. [Insert grumbling about millennials here].

As they do every year, adults with way too much time on their hands will gather in front of the Washington Monument with pillows in hand to (lightly) beat each other up. International Pillow Fight Day takes place in cities all over the world, but in D.C., it’s organized by Capitol Improv, the group responsible for the annual, sometimes controversial among DCist editors past and present, No Pants Metro Ride.

But fear not, pants are required for the seventh annual International Pillow Fight Day. There are, however, rules you must follow:

  • Wait until the signal to begin (you’ll know when we start).
  • The event is free and appropriate for all ages. BUT…
  • Please swing pillows lightly! Of all events we ever have, this one has the most children involved, so please be mindful who you’re swinging at!
  • It is recommended that children play outside the main pillow crowd.
  • Do not swing at people without pillows or with cameras.
  • Remove glasses beforehand!
  • We encourage participants to leave down pillows at home. The less that pillows burst, the easier the clean up.

The whole thing goes down at 3 p.m. on Saturday, in front of the Washington Monument on the side facing the World War II Memorial. More details here.
