The Megabus wifi never works for long. I know that, you know that. And yet, so many of us still seem to have amnesia about it. “Oh, I’ll just get some work done on the bus,” you think. No. Forget a book or a crossword and you’ll spend the next 4.5 hours alternately staring ahead and reading the label on every item you brought with you.
Even though Barnes & Noble has long since been replaced by an H&M, you’ll have one last chance to grab some reading material before you hop on the bus (or train). The Union Station Redevelopment Corporation opened a free lending library this weekend in the upgraded waiting area of the parking garage/bus terminal.
Though the lending library is aimed at bus travelers, anyone can come in and “leave one/take one” free of charge. According to a release, it was inspired by New York’s Bryant Park Reading Room.
“This lending library is something I’ve wanted to introduce at the station for a while. It just seems like a natural fit—reading and traveling,” USRC president and CEO Beverley Swaim-Staley said. “I hope the public takes advantage of this program and both takes from and donates to the library.”
