Back when she was on the D.C. Council, Mayor Muriel Bowser co-introduced a resolution—along with many other Councilmembers—urging the Washington football team to change their name (to the Redtails, actually).

And while she was campaigning for mayor, she said that a name change would certainly have to be a part of the conversation if the team wanted to move back to D.C. But perhaps Bowser is becoming a bit more relaxed about that whole part of the conversation. NBC4’s Mark Segraves reports that she’s been using the name a lot more openly than she used to be.

A request for comment about whether or not she’s talking with the team to move back to D.C.—or about the name change debate—has yet to be returned. But as Segraves reports, “multiple sources, including a senior Bowser administration official, told News4 the mayor has been advised to start using the name as a way to show good faith with owner Dan Snyder.”
