A cyclist was hit by a taxicab making a U-turn on Pennsylvania Avenue this morning in front of the Wilson Building.

At long last, the District Department of Transportation has installed more wheel stops along Pennsylvania Avenue NW in downtown D.C. What does this mean? Well, for the Bike D.C. community, it means no more of this (hopefully).

During Downtown BID’s Bike to Work Day festivities at Freedom Plaza this morning, Sam Zimbabwe, Associate Director of the Policy, Planning & Sustainability Administration at DDOT, announced that they’re adding “wheel stops on the rest of Pennsylvania Avenue” today to help protect cyclists from illegal U-turn making drivers.

The cycling community, as you can imagine, was stoked.
