Earlier today, thousands gathered at an arena on the College of Charleston’s campus to pay their respects to Rev. Clementa Pinckney, one of the nine people killed by Dylan Roof at the historic AME Church last week.

President Barack Obama delivered quite the moving, fitting eulogy at Pinckney’s funeral, that culminated with him leading the congregation in a rousing rendition of “Amazing Grace.”

It was “a powerful speech that clearly inspired the people in the room who heard it,” according to the White House press pool. During his speech, Obama praised South Carolina’s Republican leaders “for calling for the removal of the Confederate flag flying on the state capitol grounds in Columbia,” but added that there’s a lot more to be done in trying to heal race relations in America.
