Hip hop artist Kendrick Lamar will perform hits from his latest album To Pimp A Butterfly with the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy. The one-night-only performance is scheduled for October 20 at 8 p.m.
Tickets range from $35.00 – $99.00. Not a Kennedy Center member? You might want to sign up quick if you’re a Lamar stan. Members have the first option to buy beginning tomorrow at 10 a.m. The general public must wait another grueling 24 hours to buy tickets.
This isn’t the NSO’s first hip-hop collaboration. Last year, Nas celebrated the 20th anniversary of Illmatic with a performance that brought a diverse crowd out to the Kennedy Center. Trey Anastasio of Phish performed with the NSO in 2013. In 2008, Mos Def performed at the Kennedy Center with a 25-piece band.
