That’s right, Rachelist DCist is expanding. And I couldn’t be more pleased to introduce you to our new Staff Writer, Christina Sturdivant.

You might recognize her byline from her freelance work at DCist or perhaps from one of the six(!) other local publications she has been a freelance scribe for over the past year.

At ElevationDC, she was an editor focused on innovation and jobs; at the Washington AFRO American Newspapers, she was a weekly columnist profiling black-owned businesses; and at Urban Scrawl DC, she profiled D.C.’s most creative entrepreneurs each week. She’s also written feature stories for East City Art, East of the River Magazine, and the Hill Rag.

Christina is a native Washingtonian who is interested in uncovering the disparities that exist in the city in terms of access to food, housing, health, and artistic amenities. In a perfect world, she believes longtime residents and transplants can coexist and collaborate to create an even better D.C.—and drink lots of coffee in the process.
