Metro riders can ride in the New Year cost-free courtesy of Miller Light, Metro, and Premium Distributors. Commuters can access free bus and train rides starting midnight on New Year’s Day until 3 a.m.

The Metro board approved of the plan at today’s meeting.

“Our partnership with Metro is part of MillerCoors overall commitment to help prevent drunk driving by bringing alcohol responsibility programs to more markets,” said Diane Wagner, Responsibility Commerce Manager for MillerCoors in a release.

Metro’s new General Manager Paul J. Wiedefeld said, “We hope this promotion will encourage those celebrating across the region to leave the driving to us this holiday.”

If you’re catching the train, use your SmarTrip card to enter and exit and you won’t be charged. If you’re traveling via bus, just show your SmarTrip card when boarding.

D.C. joins Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Duluth and the Twin Cities Minnesota, Milwaukee, Madison and Green Bay, Wisconsin, Nashville, Tennessee, and Phoenix in MillerCoors’ New Year’s Day promotion.
