Today is the day. If your lotto numbers line up just right, you could become a billionaire (well more like a millionaire after taxes, according to the Washington City Paper. Either way, you’ll be more paid than you’ve ever been in life).

And D.C. folks are caught up in the Powerball fever, with the current haul at $1.5 billion. Even Capitals player Alexander Ovechkin, who already has a $124 million contract, got in on the action.

There’s a 1 in 292 million chance of winning. But if that one is you, what should you do with the money? Hopefully not spend a quarter of it bailing your boyfriend out of jail. Instead, professor Allan Eberhart of Georgetown University says you should do more practical things like call a financial advisor, make wise investments, and, most surprisingly, keep your day job. “The more you can just be yourself—just appreciate the gift you’ve been given—the better off you’ll be,” he says.

Check out what else he has to say on Georgetown University’s “Ask a GU Professor” series.

And if you’re a college student who doesn’t win that $1.5 billion Powerball prize, Eberhart recently shared what new grads should do with their first paycheck—a few tips are helpful for long-time workers as well.
