D.C. Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton is one of the more than 100 people who are working to de-stigmatize abortion by sharing stories about the procedure in a livestream that will run until 6 p.m. today.

For the second year in a row, the 1 in 3 Campaign is hosting an abortion speakout that includes regular folks talking about their abortions, as well as elected officials encouraging women to overcome the vitriol of the debate over reproductive access.

“D.C.’s low income women have a unique abortion story of their own to tell the country,” says Norton in the pre-recorded video, which will air around 3:10 p.m. “We do not fear that abortion will stigmatize us. The stigma they feel comes from Congress, which blocks D.C. from spending its own local funds for abortion for the women who need the most.”

Other participants include Congresswoman Barbara Lee of California, Congressman Tim Ryan of Ohio (who switched his stance on abortion last year), former Texas State Senator Wendy Davis, and Lizz Winstead, the co-creator of the Daily Show and Lady Parts Justice.

Many participants are joining the livestream from a studio in D.C. near Farragut North, while others are Skying in.

The 1 in 3 Campaign is named after the statistic that a third of women in the U.S. will have an abortion in their lifetime. The livestream is scheduled to coincide with the upcoming anniversary of the landmark Supreme Court decision Roe v. Wade on January 22. A release notes that the live stream will also “serve as a live amicus brief for the Supreme Court before it considers a restrictive Texas abortion law.”
