It looks like H Street Main Street has more faith in the D.C. streetcar carrying passengers than Nando’s. In celebration of the transit system’s grand opening (and St. Patrick’s Day), the organization will host an H Street Passport Program from Feb. 27-March 17.

After a decade of delays for the $200 million project, Mayor Muriel Bowser announced that it’ll finally start service at 10 a.m. tomorrow on 13th Street between Wylie and H Streets NE. At the daylong event, you’ll be able to pick up some D.C. Streetcar swag (or come wearing your own).

For those anxious about the trip, DDOT has made an instructional/exercise video on best practices for riding the streetcar. And to keep up with the system, the NextBus app will post arrival and departure times, along with trip planning tools on the system’s website.

The route currently runs from Union Station to Benning Road, though the mayor said the line will expand east and west.

Folks can pick up a passport at the opening ceremony or at pick-up locations until March 17. If you collect more than seven stamps, drop off your finished passport at Ben’s Chili Bowl (1001 H Street NE) on or before Thursday, March 17 for a chance to win a REI bike, restaurant gift cards, and other prizes. The drawing will be held on March 18.
