The 2016 Nuclear Summit is causing one Metro closure and a lot of blocked roads next week.

WMATA is closing Mount Vernon Square for two days at the request of the U.S. Secret Service. The station will shutter temporarily for the summit from March 30 – April 1.

Leaders from dozens of countries are expected to convene at the Washington Convention Center to discuss the threat of nuclear terrorism, just steps from the station. Therefore, it will close as a matter of security, according to a release.

So if you’re riding on the Green and Yellow Lines during this time, you’ll pass Mt. Vernon Square and won’t be able to exit the train. Here are more service details from Metro:

  • Mt Vernon Square Station will be closed starting at approximately 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, and continuing through Friday evening, April 1. (The station will reopen after the U.S. Secret Service discontinues security efforts late Friday evening.)
  • Customers who normally use Mt Vernon Square should use Gallery Place or Shaw-Howard stations instead. Either alternate station is located approximate 0.5 miles from Mt Vernon Square (about a 10-minute walk).
  • Due to road closures, alternate bus service will not be provided.
  • While this is the only station expected to close because of the summit, nearly two dozen streets near the convention center, White House, and state department will close for different periods of time.
