If you don’t like the songs that other people are writing about D.C., maybe it’s time to participate in creating the city’s very own anthem.

The Funk Parade, now gearing up for its third year, wants to know which city sounds are most emblematic of D.C. Once you’ve recorded them, you upload them to the project’s website. Grammy-nominated local hip hop artist Kokayi will meld those sounds together to create what the Funk Parade is calling a “new D.C. anthem.” Hopefully, it’ll be less cacophonous than the No Sharps, No Flats sonic installation.

This isn’t the only crowdsourcing the Funk Parade is taking part in this year—an IndieGoGo page for the festival has raised almost $4,000 towards a goal of $15,000.

The Funk Parade is scheduled for May 7, and organizers expect 70,000 participants this year.
