The Metropolitan Police Department has announced the arrest of a 24-year-old woman who they say was the driver in a car accident that killed a pedestrian early this morning.
The incident occurred in the 1300 block of Massachusetts Avenue NW just before 1:30 a.m., according to MPD. Roshonda Michelle Josephs of Northwest was driving eastbound in the service lane when her car struck the unidentified male victim after he stepped into the street between parked cars, police said.
When D.C. Fire and EMS officials arrived on the scene, the man’s body was trapped under Josephs’ car. Medics attempted to save his life, but the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene.
After the incident, Josephs was taken to a hospital for minor injuries. She is being charged with driving under the influence. The case is still under investigation.
