Every morning for nearly two weeks it’s been the same god damn routine: wake up, look out the window, see the gloomy weather, and press the snooze button.

There’s one silver lining to the depressing rain clouds, though—the Washington area broke its record for consecutive rainy days, according to the Capital Weather Gang. The 13-day streak, which started April 27, broke a 10-day record tied in 1938 and 1873. See, there’s meaning in the malaise!

And we could really run with the record. The National Weather Service forecasts likely showers Tuesday and a chance of showers Wednesday, Thursday night, Friday, and Saturday.

So take this opportunity to see a movie or catch up on Radiohead’s latest, because the rain is here to stay. At least it’s served as a muse to some of the area’s local reporters.
