While some District residents might be getting off the job early this holiday weekend, Metrorail’s track work is stopping for no one. Maintenance is scheduled for all six lines with trains running every 8 to 24 minutes. Plus, there will be no Orange Line trains in motion from 7 a.m. on Saturday through closing on Monday.

Meanwhile, D.C. is just over a week away from the launch of Metro’s SafeTrack plan that will affect everyone from low-income riders to club promoters. If you believe the long-term maintenance is a good idea, you can show Metro General Manager Paul Wiedefeld some love by purchasing a t-shirt of approval with his smiling face.
