Before noon today, local nonprofits raked in more than $350,000 in donations as part of the Do More 24 campaign, a day of virtual fundraising. Organized by the United Way of the National Capital Area, more than 700 nonprofits in the D.C. region have signed up, representing fields such as arts and culture, education, religion, animal welfare, and more.
The top four small and large organizations who get the most public contributions will get extra prize money to boot. There are also awards given to do-gooders who get the most money during certain times of the day and do things like getting random people to take selfies with their company logo.
