Safetrack is currently in its ninth surge, a 42-day maintenance plan that entails severe restrictions on the western end of Orange Line. That means that, this weekend, from 7:00 a.m. on Saturday through closing Sunday, buses will replace trains between Vienna and East Falls Church. This will add 12 to 15 minutes of travel time for each station stop.

And as the year-long plan continues, Metro General Manager Paul Wiedefeld is upholding strict guidelines he set earlier this year, and he isn’t letting sports fans or upset board members deter him. Metro suspended early openings and late closings for special events while SafeTrack maintenance is underway, even if when the Nationals go to the World Series, Metro board chairman Jack Evans, told The Washington Post, adding that several other board members are siding with Wiedefeld’s decision.

As for the rest of this weekend, additional delays are happening on the Red Line, which will be single tracking between Rhode Island Avenue and Takoma as workers fix other maintenance issues.

Elsewhere, though, all is clear. The Silver, Blue, Yellow, and Green line trains will operate at regular weekend intervals.
