Slated to open in early December, MGM National Harbor has snagged Bruno Mars to be one its first entertainers to perform at the luxury resort. The four-time GRAMMY Award-winning musician will take the stage at The Theater on December 27.
This type of A-list act is setting the stage for what’s to come at the new resort, said Bill Boasberg, the general manager of MGM National Harbor, in a release. “MGM Resorts delivers the biggest and most sought-after names in entertainment and sports and we can’t wait to bring that level of excitement to the East Coast.”
MGM sealed the deal to operate Maryland’s sixth—in the form of an 18-story, 300-suite hotel—back in 2013, and construction began the following fall. The $1.4 billion resort sits in Prince George’s County, separated from the District by the Potomac River. One of its largest amenities is the 125,000-square-foot casino.
In addition to concerts, the 3,000-seat The Theater (yes, that’s the name) will host also events like comedy shows, ultimate fighting championships, and boxing matches.
Bruno Mars’ performance is part part of a long-term partnership with MGM Resorts International, which also scheduled the entertainer for a show at one of its new Las Vegas sites. Tickets for Mars’ National Harbor performance go on sale this Friday and range from $150 to $395.
