Much has been made of President-elect Donald Trump earning about 4 percent of the vote in his soon-to-be home. But, thanks to new maps from GIS Specialist Randy Smith, we can see exactly where that 4 percent came from and where the Trump strongholds, if you can even call them that, are located. Click on each precinct to see its distribution of votes.
While Trump’s vote share was around 1 to 2 percent of the total nearly everywhere in the eastern portion of the city, he boasted double digit support in parts of Wards 2 and 3. His best performance was 15.41 percent votes of Precinct 9, located in Ward 3.
Another revealing map is the one tallying support for the D.C. statehood referendum, which passed with 78 percent of vote, per the D.C. Board of Elections.
Wards 1 and 4 had the highest concentration of “yes” votes, though none of the precincts had less than 70 percent of people voting in favor of the referendum.
Smith says he is working on maps for the At-large D.C. Council races as well.
