Melania and Barron Trump are staying in Manhattan for the time being, but it appears that Ivanka Trump and her husband, Jared Kushner, plan to move to D.C.

CNN reports that the president-elect’s daughter is house hunting in the District, though the outlet didn’t cite a source for the news. Kushner is widely expected to play a prominent role in the incoming administration, though anti-nepotism laws may prevent that.

While the pair currently live on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, Trump isn’t entirely new to the city—she spent two years at Georgetown University before transferring to the University of Pennsylvania, and was closely involved in the Trump International Hotel project at the Old Post Office pavilion.

Her role in the incoming administration remains unclear. The president-elect has claimed that his three eldest children will control his business interests through a blind trust a completely unprecedented arrangement, Ivanka Trump was seen at a meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. She plans to attend meeting today with Al Gore to discuss climate change issues.

Vice President-elect Mike Pence has already moved to the city, temporarily renting a
five-bedroom home in Chevy Chase
until inauguration. Neighbors have greeted Pence, who has a long record of opposing LGBTQ rights, with rainbow flags.

There was rampant speculation about which neighborhood the Obamas would move to after leaving the White House (they chose Kalorama). We don’t know which neighborhood the Trump-Kushners are eying, though we suggest Spring Valley, where Trump got a full 15 percent of the vote.
