As giant panda Bao Bao prepares to make her way to China on February 21, the Smithsonian’s National Zoo will host a celebratory series dubbed #ByeByeBaoBao.

A series of online and on-site events are scheduled from February 11 – 20, kicking off with a special members-only celebration hosted by Friends of the National Zoo. There are also designated times for visitors who want to see Bao Bao get treats—or people can watch along on the zoo’s Panda Cam.

Facebook live feeds will show things like Bao Bao painting and training, as well as behind-the-scenes footage of zookeepers packing for her trip. The zoo’s panda team will take over the Smithsonian’s Instagram page for a day. And a special edition of National Zoo News will include keeper memories and a downloadable Bao Bao keepsake. See the complete schedule of activities here.

The zoo announced in October that the panda, who turned three in late August, will leave for Chengdu, China early this year.

Her move is per an agreement with the China Wildlife Conservation Association that requires all pandas born here to relocate to China before turning four years old so they can breed with other pandas.

Giant panda Mei Xiang gave birth to Bao Bao in August 2013. The then-cub made her public debut five months later.

The zoo is now receiving goodbye letters that officials will send to Bao Bao in China. Fans can also add to the growing number of farewell messages on Facebook.
