The White House Press Corps has had an interesting year, to say the least. While some of its members now see versions of themselves on Saturday Night Live, they’re generally shown facing an onslaught of insults and yelling from Press Secretary Sean Spicer.
President Donald Trump disavows coverage he doesn’t like as “fake news,” calling media outlets and individual journalists “the worst,” “terrible,” “totally biased,” “so false and angry,” and so much more.
But just like a loving father who knows when his kid needs a pat on the back, America’s Dad Tom Hanks has a present for the journalists who post up in the bowels of the president’s house.

The note, affixed with a cartoon that depicts “Fresh, spirited American troops, flushed with victory, are bringing in thousands of hungry, ragged, battle-weary prisoners,” says:
To the White House Press Corps
Keep up the good fight for Truth, Justice, and the American Way.
Especially the Truth part.

NBC 4 says the machine is a Pasquini Livia G4, which costs $2,219.
This isn’t even Hanks’ first time buying the White House Press Corps an espresso machine. The Hill notes that this is actually his third such gift to the journalist association.
He first bought one for the press area in 2004, after learning it didn’t already have a way to make coffee. After checking in on the gift in 2010, he was not impressed by its upkeep. “You know, you are supposed to clean this after every use,” he told the “poor slobs,” according to ABC News. (Even Hanks can’t resist a dig at the media.)
A month later, journalists received a “super deluxe” version of the machine.
