It’s official: fired FBI director James Comey is Capitol Hill-bound this Thursday.

With the news that the Trump administration won’t use executive privilege to prevent Comey from testifying in front of the Senate Intelligence Committee, CSPAN lovers are getting their popcorn ready.

“Washington is consumed by anticipation” ahead of Comey’s Senate appearance, according to Politico. The New York Times says the testimony could be “the most sensational moment to date in a controversy that has engulfed the Trump administration from its beginning.” As CNN puts it, “Comey-mania about to take over Washington.”

What’s the best way to prepare for so-called Comey-mania? Probably drinking with others.

Shaw’s Tavern (520 Florida Ave NW) announced it’ll open at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, and all five of its televisions will be tuned into the 10 a.m. hearing with the sound on. They’re offering specials like $5 for “Russian vodka flavors.” More than 500 people have expressed interest in the event, which the bar is calling “The Comey Hearing Covfefe.”

Duffy’s (2106 Vermont Ave NW) is also getting in on the action by opening at 10 a.m. for the “James Comey Show.” They’ve got (wait for it … ) Covfefe cocktails, and they’re pledging to devote 15 TVs plus a screen on the patio to the testimony. They’ve also got wi-fi.

The Partisan (709 D St NW) will open early for the hearings, too. Starting at 10 a.m., folks can belly up to the bar (which is attached to Red Apron Butcher) to watch the hearing. Cocktails called The Last Word and Drop The Bomb will be $6 apiece.

Union Pub (201 Massachusetts Ave NE) clearly wants to go bankrupt, because it will buy a round of drinks for the house every time Trump tweets about Comey during the testimony. The bar, which’ll open at 9:30 a.m., is running the special until Comey’s testimony is over or 4 p.m. hits, whichever comes first.

Capitol Lounge (231 Pennsylvania Ave SE) is opening at 9 a.m. for the Comey hearing, despite having the slogan “No politics, no Miller Lite.”

Commissary (1443 P St NW) opens at 8 a.m.. Offering bottomless mimosas, bloodys, and sangria for $15, they’ll play the testimony on a wall projector with sound.

If you’re looking to drink on Thursday sans Comey, The Pug (1234 H St NE) has you covered.
