Last Saturday and Sunday marked the wettest weekend of the year so far for D.C., but it looks like this coming one is feeling competitive.

Beginning on Friday, get ready for more rain. The National Weather Service predicts a day of showers and thunderstorms in the morning with the potential for heavy rainfall and a 100 percent chance of precipitation.

That 100 percent chance of precipitation continues into Friday evening, says NWS, with winds of around 8 miles per hour.

But rain isn’t just going to be a Friday feeling. More showers, and winds of 11 miles per hour, coming on Saturday as well, says NWS.

On Sunday, there’s still a chance of showers but the sun may break through. NWS is predicting a total of about 2 to 4 inches of rain.

Capital Weather Gang explains that the storm system at the root of ruining your outdoor plans more resembles a winter Nor’easter. The big difference? Because the air has more humidity, it can generate more precipitation than in the winter.

NWS issued a flash flood watch for the Washington metro area from Friday afternoon through Saturday afternoon.

Get your arks ready.
